Floriculture provides students with hands-on entry level flower shop experiences in floral design, display and marketing.

Students gain practical employable skills as they engage in a variety of activities to learn:
How to use floral tools,
How to preserve floral materials,
Proper care and handling of flowers, plants and foliage,
How to construct arrangements for all occasions,
How to apply design principles,
Self-evaluation of completed products in accordance with
appropriate aspects of floral design,
How to display, price and market products.

The Floriculture program provides the "Flower of the Month Club". Over one hundred staff members have joined for a nominal fee this school year.

Wonderful arrays of flowers and/or plant arrangements arrive out-of-the-blue, guaranteed to brighten any day, by students who carry with each delivery a great smile of pride.

The Flower of the Month Club is one of the very special aspects of CMCSSSD that so effectively influences both the lives of our students and staff.
