Cape May Schools for Special Services is dedicated to the education of students ages 3-21 with special needs in the Cape May County High School and Ocean Academy, and to students of high school age in a general education, alternative setting at Cape Educational COMPACT.  We are proud to provide services to our students with the latest educational and therapeutic methods and up-to-date technology on an individualized basis.  We put a special emphasis on professional development so that our teachers and therapists can continue to stay updated in their fields.  It is our goal to provide exceptional academic and vocational programming for our students.   In this district we truly care about our students and staff and we consider ourselves to be part of the Cape May Schools for Special Services Family.

As a district we are also proud of our collaboration with the community. I am very happy to announce a collaborative effort with Cape Counseling for the 2007-8 school year to provide educational and partial care services to selected students who are in need of intensive therapeutic services.  The program, FOCUS (Focus On Community, Understanding and Success) is an innovative, unique program designed to give the students the best of both Cape May County Special Services and Cape Counseling.

In addition to our educational programs, our district offers an Over 21 program for medically fragile adults, and a Community Use program which provides swim lessons, exercise classes, family and lap swim for members of our community.  Our students are encouraged to participate in service learning projects and have helped to build a house in Whitesboro with Habitat for Humanity, participated in community beautification projects, provided assistance to the Wetlands Institute, and actively maintain a district food bank.  Cape May County Special Services School District is fortunate to have the support of the Education Foundation which runs a yearly dinner auction and provides our children with items needed to increase their potential for success.   We are very grateful for the support of Cape May County Freeholders and our sending districts for their continued confidence in us.
