At its October 6 regional sub fund meeting, the New Jersey School Boards Association Insurance Group (NJSBAIG) awarded Cape May County Special Services Board of Education a safety grant in the amount of $6513. The grant rewards the district for its commitment to risk management and must be used to invest in further safety and security-related improvements within the district. The Cape May County Special Services Board of Education was one of 13 districts presented with a grant check at the Cape May Atlantic Insurance Pool (CAIP) meeting. Diane S. Fox, Business Administrator was in attendance and accepted the grant check on behalf of the board. She announced that the grant money will be used to install additional cameras for security throughout the building, amber warning lights at entrances to announce to visitors the building is in lockdown and 4 emergency shut off switches for our Boiler rooms. In keeping with its mission to protect NJ schools and keep district dollars in the classroom, NJSBAIG established the Safety Grant program this year to help member districts reduce their loss exposure and insurance costs through proactive risk management. The grant program provides funding that schools otherwise may not have to invest in safety and security-related projects that will make their schools safer for students, employees and the communities they serve. In total, NJSBAIG is awarding $3 million in safety grants to member districts across the state. The NJSBAIG, located in Burlington, New Jersey, is a non-profit entity providing property, casualty and workers’ compensation insurance at competitive rates to NJ public schools. It is the only statewide, member-owned school district joint insurance fund. This year NJSBAIG celebrates 26 years helping member districts to stabilize insurance costs with comprehensive insurance coverage, competitive rates, in-house claims management and a host of risk management and loss control services.
