Welcome Back to the Media Center!

We're back!  The Special Services Media Center has been undergoing renovations over the past several months.  After packing up the entire library and moving out in order to install new carpet and paint, we have moved back in over the summer and are still adding the finishing touches to get everything up and running.  One new addition is a Teacher Resource Center for staff, with curriculum materials and workspace for teachers.  The Media Center has a new look, and more changes will be in store with some new furniture in the works.  Ms. Amy and Ms. Evelyn would like to thank everyone who helped out during the spring and summer.  We are looking forward to opening the Media Center doors for the fall!

Author/Illustrator Dar Hosta

An Author Visit with Dar Hosta

Author/illustrator Dar Hosta returned to Special Services Media Center in April 2014 to share her stories and artistic techniques with students.  Ms. Hosta last visited us in 2009, when she helped to create and publish two books of collage artwork by our students.  Ms. Hosta's books include Mavis and Her Marvelous Mooncakes, I Love the Alphabet, I Love the Night, Animalization, If I Were a Tree, and Doggie Do!  Ms. Hosta presented her assembly program for Ocean Academy students and selected CMCHS classes, showing the movie she created on how a book is made.  She then met with three groups of OA students to create collage artwork with an ocean theme.  Their artwork can be seen in the slide show above.  Both students and staff members enjoyed the visit with Ms. Hosta.

For more information on Ms. Hosta's books, school programs, and artwork, visit www.darhosta.com .
