Author! Author!

Our visiting author for the 2016-17 school year is Paige Cunningham, who is from West Cape May.  She has published two children's books with her friend, co-author and illustrator Janet Payne.  Ms. Cunningham visited the Special Services Media Center on September 30 to introduce her first book, Cape May A to Z.  Her visit was a collaboration between the Media Center, the OXE program and the Art program.  Selected classes participated in an art project with the help of Ms. Debbie Magee and Ms. Cunningham, which resulted in a beautiful mosaic painting of a butterfly.  Sixty-four different students each colored a small square with oil pastels, and the squares were assembled to form the butterfly shown in the photo above.  Ms. Cunningham also visited the OXE classroom to look at the butterfly garden and speak to a group of Cape May County High School students.

Ms. Cunningham will be returning at the end of the school year to share her second book, Nighttime at the Beach.  This visit will also include collaboration between the Media Center, OXE, Art, and Music programs.  We are looking forward to another fun visit!
